Tatanka Iyotanka, Hunkpapa Sioux Leader (1834-1890).
Acclaimed for his vision, courage and strength in battle,
Sitting Bull headed the Strong Hearts warrior society
and tribal council. He actively opposed the white man’s
continual encroachment of Indian land throughout the
Plains Indian Wars of the 1860’s. His medicine power,
leadership and organizational ability made him a figure
of great respect for all time.
