TRADITIONAL BUFFALO SKULL
Traditional Buffalo Skull

Standing over six feet high at the hump, the male buffalo was seen as a manifestation of the wisdom of Wakan Tanka, or Great Mystery. Its skull was used in many rituals, including those intended to lure herds closer to camp.

This traditional presentation is typical of the type that might be found on a tripod outside a teepee or medicine lodge. The background depicts a shield that is decorated with trade cloth, white heart beads, pony beads, horsehair, feathers and tin cones.

Approximately 24" x 38".

Made by Native and non-Native Americans.

This item cannot be shipped outside the USA.
