The buffalo is the ultimate provider and protector, physically and spiritually.

This buffalo skull is umber-tinted and decorated with braided sweetgrass, leather fringe, bone hair pipe, brass bells, glass beads, and braided buffalo hair. The color red represents the earth, and the blood of the people; braiding represents the unity of the people. The twists of fringe call upon the power of the whirlwind.
